Delete your Ayanda account

You can delete your Ayanda account at any time. This page explains how to ask, what is deleted, and what we have to keep. Deleting an account cannot be undone.

1. How to delete your account

There are three ways, and all of them need you to prove the account is yours — which is why none of them is a form on this page. An open box that deleted an account from a typed email address would be a way to delete somebody else's.

  • In the Igiiwe mobile app: open Settings, tap Delete account, and follow the steps. You will be asked for your password.
  • On the web: sign in at dashboard.ayanda.co, then go to Settings and choose Delete account.
  • By email: write to hi@ayanda.co FROM the email address on the account, with "Delete my account" as the subject. We may ask one or two questions to confirm it is you before we act.

    • If you no longer have the app installed and can no longer sign in, the email route is the one to use.

    2. What is deleted

    Everything that identifies you as a person is erased or scrambled so it can no longer be linked back to you:

  • Your name, email address and phone number.
  • Your profile photo, nickname and date of birth.
  • Your exam level, study preferences and app settings.
  • Your password, transaction PIN and two-factor authentication settings.
  • Your referral code, which is released so somebody else can be issued it.
  • Your sign-in itself. The account cannot be used again, and we cannot restore it.

    • 3. What we keep, and why

    We keep a record of money that moved, with your name removed from it. Those records are no longer linked to you as an identifiable person, and we keep them because we are required to:

  • Wallet transactions, payments and subscription records — kept for accounting, tax and audit purposes, as Nigerian law requires of any business.
  • Referral commissions paid to you or earned from you — kept so that other people's earnings records stay correct. Deleting them would silently change what somebody else is shown to have earned.

    • We do not use any of it to contact you, profile you, or build an advertising audience. After deletion there is nothing in it that says who you were.

    4. Before you delete

  • Withdraw or spend any money in your Ayanda wallet first. We will not let the deletion go ahead while a balance remains, because deleting an account is not a way we are willing to take somebody's money.
  • If you refer other people, you stop earning commission from them the moment your account is deleted. That cannot be reinstated.
  • If your account manages a school, hospital or business on Ayanda, you cannot delete it yourself — that would remove access for everyone working under it. Email hi@ayanda.co and we will arrange a handover or a proper closure.

    • 5. How long it takes

    Deletion from the app or the web happens immediately: your personal data is erased as soon as you confirm, and you are signed out everywhere. Requests by email are handled within 30 days, and usually much sooner.

    Backups are a separate matter. Personal data can persist in encrypted backups for up to 90 days after deletion, after which those backups expire on their own. We do not restore a deleted account from a backup.
